The Trinity County Arts Council would like to carry forward a practice of recognizing the original caretakers of these Sacred Lands within and throughout the Trinity region.
We acknowledge and offer gratitude to these indigenous ancestors, and present-day relations of the Nor-Rel Muk Wintu Nation and those tribal people who grace the North State – Maidu, Miwok, Hoopa, and Yurok.
We acknowledge their stewardship of these lands and uplift their legacies as they continue to build and sustain their culture and practices today and for seven generations

Funds for Artists' Resiliency Project
Hayfork Mural awarded funding
Hayfork Mural awarded funding
ARTISTS: Karlie Elliott, Heather van der Ven, Brindi Young, Raina Bolton
The Trinity County Arts Council is elated to announce the winners of the 2020 F.A.R. public arts grant for Trinity. 7 applications were submitted. A panel comprised of business owners and civic partners thoughtfully evaluated the applications based upon the criteria provided by the Ink People Center for the Arts and the Humboldt Area Foundation. Several applications represented projects that we would love to pursue in the future, however, one application checked all of the boxes for Artistic Merit, Expression of equity and resilience, Potential for community engagement, Diversity of populations engaged, and Numbers of people impacted. We are pleased to support a new mural to be painted and installed in Hayfork Square, visible from Hwy 3. Our team of artists were best buds in high school with art as a shared interest. Each has pursued an education and career, to be reunited for the production of a mural that will be installed this summer. Congratulations to Karlie Elliott, Brindi Young, Raina Bolton, and Heather Murphy.
( FAR awarded eight grants between $2,000 and $5,000 this fall to proposals for works of public art in Humboldt, Del Norte and Trinity counties. VIRTUAL YOUNG ARTIST'S SHOWCASE
As our world springs forth with new life; and the sunshine lures one outside, it becomes increasingly difficult to observe social distancing. The Trinity County Arts Council misses the laughter and opportunity to get to know the community of people who join us on the 1st Saturday of the month for the Art Cruise. Especially April’s Annual Young Artist Showcase. Every year, we are blown away by the young talent in Trinity County! The K-12 schools and the home-school art programs feature a selection of 2-D and 3-D art created by their students during the year. THIS year, two THS high school students created a virtual show of the Young Artist Showcase. So, plug into a large screen, grab some refreshments, and enjoy the creative vision of our youngsters. Feel free to share it on your networks. https://tinyurl.com/r5fa9xs |
POETRY OUT LOUD:
COVID-19 Virus forced Virtual Performances for Poetry Out Loud State Competition 2020 The COVID-19 Virus Cancelled the Poetry Out Loud State Competition that was to be held at the State Capitol, March 14. The directive was given that each county needed to video their County Champion and download the 3 poems to Sacramento on the Saturday prior to the competition scheduled for Sunday. Hayfork’s team rallied for our Trinity Champion, Sunshine Montgomery, with coach Becky Stetson and technical specialist Jonathon Daniels braving the storm warning to video Sunshine’s performance at Hayfork High School. I asked Sunshine why she chose to volunteer for the POL Program. “To overcome my fear”, said Sunshine. SEE Full Story and Photos of Virtual Performance Youtube: "Cartoon Physics" "Diameter" |
