Touching History !
Roll back time for the 6th annual Trinity Heritage Days!
Join in the festivities on May 9, from 11am - 4 pm
The Nor-Rel-Muk Wintu Nation and Trinity County Arts Council invite guests to the Opening Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. in the Highland Art Center Meadow, 691 Main St.  The drums call people to the opening ceremony of prayer, song, and dance.  The air crackles with excitement and sound as the Onasatis circle the fire with the opening dance.

Also featured will be traditional dancing by the Bay Area the Inter Tribal Youth Connection Dancers.

Traditional Arts and Culture will follow the ceremony until 4:00 p.m. with FREE drop-in, hands-on craft workshops for  all-ages with guest artists and story tellers from the North State.  Experience Flint Knapping, throwing the Atlatyl hunting spear, Jewelry Making, creating Dream Catchers, and playing traditional stick games.  Learn about the Native Heritage through presentations about Ishi from Beverly Ogle and the Indian Boarding Schools with a transformative healing - to list just a few experiences to be had.

Neighboring the museum, is the oldest continuously used Chinese temple in California, the Weaverville Joss House State Historic Park.   Distinguished by the Taoist temple, the park is laden with symbols of ancient deities, Chinese novelties, and speaks to the resilience of people by continuing to be a place of active worship.  There will tours of the temple and activities for children.

Up the lane, the Jake Jackson Museum will intrigue all with the tinkering of blacksmiths forging metal works and outdoor exhibits.  Experience the stamp mill, miner's cabin, and relics of our past inside the museum including the jail that you can enter!   The museum is open 11am until 3:00 pm.
