CA Creative Corps Comes to Trinity County!
The Upstate California Creative Corps is about to launch, offering artists - and organizations and local government departments hoping to employ artists - an opportunity to apply for funding to create awareness around issues critical to society. Over $3 million will be re-granted to artists in the Upstate California region, arts and social service organizations, as well as units of government who will employ artists... But where to start?!
The Creative Corps is in part modeled on the most successful components of the Federal Art Programs of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) which launched on the heels of the Great Depression a hundred-odd years ago.
Join us alongside David Kipen, former Chair of Literature at the National Endowment for the Arts and an authority on the WPA in California, as we explore what it means for artists to get behind and create awareness for public health, environmental issues, climate mitigation, and emergency preparedness, relief, and recovery, civic engagement and social justice.
We'll be looking at some of California's most exciting projects from the WPA, and brainstorming the sorts of projects that artists might consider in CURRENT contexts.
This is a fantastic opportunity for artists and potential organizational partners to get ahead of the curve in positioning themselves for applying to the Upstate California Creative Corps.
Registration is a must. Follow this link then check your inbox for a link to join us - and let your friends and fellow artists know!

The Trinity County Arts Council would like to carry forward a practice of recognizing the original caretakers of these Sacred Lands within and throughout the Trinity region. We acknowledge and offer gratitude to these indigenous ancestors, and present-day relations of the Nor-Rel Muk Wintu Nation and those tribal people who grace the North State – Maidu, Miwok, Hoopa, and Yurok. We acknowledge their stewardship of these lands and uplift their legacies as they continue to build and sustain their culture and practices today and for seven generations.
