TCAC Executive Director Position- Trinity County, California
Join the dynamic team at the Trinity County Arts Council nestled in the Trinity Alps.  We are seeking an experienced leader  to serve as Executive Director to advance our mission and agenda; with a strong understanding of the arts, the importance of the arts and culture as an economic driver, and unifier of communities.  

For more than 20 years, the Trinity County Arts Council (TCAC) has been recognized as a community leader providing innovative programs and services to artists, arts organizations, educators, youth and the general public while building relevancy for the arts with our Trinity community. 

The Mission of the Trinity County Arts Council (TCAC)
The Trinity County Arts Council is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation with the mission to advance Trinity County through the arts and creativity. We accomplish our mission by encouraging widespread public participation in the arts; helping build arts organizations throughout the County; promoting arts education; assisting the professional development of artists; promoting awareness of the value of the arts and directly supporting arts programs for children and our communities.

Position Available:  The Arts Council seeks a dynamic and experienced leader.   We are looking for a person who is excited to meet, greet and embrace our creative community members countywide through various forms of outreach. Our ideal candidate enjoys collaboration and has an ability to create advertising for a variety of media, find and write grants, administer projects, set goals and meet those goals.  The TCAC typically works with other non-profit organizations, local artists, businesses, galleries, schools and occasionally coordinates with art organizations in our surrounding counties. 

The E.D. will work from a home office, meeting constituents in all reaches of the county in person and electronically via email, telephone and  ZOOM.  The E.D. works closely with and reports to the Board of Directors (BOD), providing an activity report to the Board at the regularly scheduled Board Meetings, every-other month.  The TCAC Board is an active and involved Board, providing direction and support as needed.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary areas of responsibility include:
  • Strategic Planning – develops and implements the organization’s Strategic Plan and annual action plans in         conjunction with the Board.
  • Attends meetings with the California Arts Council to insure that our values, goals, and programs are in-line with their vision.  May be required to drive or fly to annual 2 day conference, paid by TCAC.
  • Program Development, Marketing, and Management – develops, implements and supervises programs and services that are consistent with the organization’s mission and Strategic Plan and that meet the needs of constituents.  Each program will include a marketing plan, budget, and time-line.
  • Fund Development/Grant Oversight and Fiscal Management – together with the Board, develops and manages the fundraising and financial strategies of the organization; develops an annual budget for approval by the Board; oversees the management of all funds, consistent with the organization’s accounting system.
  • Staff Leadership and Management – motivates and develops the professional management team; working with the Board, hires, supervises and evaluates staff; coordinates work with the Board’s committees, volunteers and partner organizations.  Supervises interns and independent contractors.
  • Community Relations – develops effective working relationships within the community (both within the arts community and elsewhere) to ensure that the arts are represented in the community-at-large and forthe constituency that the Arts Council serves.  Building relationships with Arts Leaders in neighboring  counties is essential.
  • Advocacy – serves as the chief spokesperson for the Arts Council in the community; articulates and         communicates the value of the arts in improving our quality of life, and promotes community support of the arts and the Arts Council.
  • Conducts official correspondence for the Council, individually and jointly with the Board, as appropriate.
  • Executes legal documents in tandem with designated officers.
  • Ensures implementation of Board authorized policies and initiatives.
  • Ensures that official records and documents are maintained and are in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Responsible for public accountability for Council programs and activities.
Primary Funding is provided through an operational grant from the California Arts Council SLP Grant.  We seek funds from memberships, corporate and business donations, and grants specific to programs such as an annual “Trinity County Tourism Grant”.  The E.D. salary, overhead, and programs will be determined by fundraising that is spearheaded by the E.D..  We are happy to discuss the income potential of this position.

EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Licensed California Driver with car.          
  • Ability to travel to conferences, regions of Trinity County and periodically neighboring counties.
  • Administration Experience including management, staff development, fundraising, grant writing.
  • Technical Ability; computer programs in word processing, photography and photo manipulation, development of marketing materials.  Ability to provide upkeep of websites, implement social media, create advertising.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, comfortable with public speaking, outreach to strangers, building bridges.
  • Knowledge of the Trinity area arts community is a plus.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to positively motivate and develop staff, board, and volunteers and build consensus.
  • Visionary and innovative thinker.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all sectors of he community.

SALARY & BENEFITS
Compensation: Salary starts at $2,400 / month with estimated 20 hours a week.  Compensation is based upon ability to raise funds. Executive Director is a salaried position, working out of one’s home.  Hours vary depending upon projects and events that the E.D. and BOD choose to pursue.  E.D. must be available to the public in person and by electronic means.
 
TCAC expects the E.D. to work closely with the BOD to accommodate the personal needs of the E.D. while meeting the time requirements of the job.  A monthly time card will be provided to the BOD.
TCAC does not currently offer a heath or retirement benefits package.
