Funds for Artists’ Resilience (FAR), a project of the Ink People Center for the Arts, is providing artist selection and project management services for a new initiative that will fund public art projects in Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties on themes of equity and resilience.
The Ink People Center for the Arts, in partnership with the Trinity County Arts Council (TCAC) and Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness (DNACA), encourage proposals for imaginative multimedia gestures that reflect the unique attributes of this region and the unique challenges community members are facing in these times.
Proposed artworks and events must be accessible to the public, provide opportunities for engagement with members of the community, or be a bridge for uniting diverse populations. Possible approaches include: poetry, music, performance, painting, audiovisual production, and community engagement / social praxis. All media are eligible.

Proposals will be reviewed based on the following criteria:
Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed by a selection panel convened by FAR that will include Ink People Center for the Arts in Humboldt County, DNACA in Del Norte County, and TCAC in Trinity County. Panels will consist of a combination of staff, community members, stakeholders, and artists in each county.
Should the selection committee determine that none of the applicants presented are the right match for the commission, an artist or artists may be selected via an invitational process.

Budget
- Category 1: (Individual) This category is for solo applicants. Maximum funds available per project: $1,000.
- Category 2: (Collaboration) This category is for teams. Proposals in this category should provide an opportunity for community members’ direct involvement and collaboration as part of the creative process. Maximum funding amount: $5,000.
Eligibility and Criteria
- This opportunity is open to all artists living in Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties, with preference given to artists who have suffered economic loss due to COVID-19 and/or Black, Indigenous, and People Of Color artists.
- Proposed artworks should reflect the unique attributes of this region and the unique challenges community members are facing in these times. They should be accessible to the public and/or provide opportunities for engagement with members of the community.
- Proposals that engage or represent communities that have historically been marginalized or underrepresented in this region, including Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, are encouraged.
Proposals will be reviewed based on the following criteria:
- Artistic merit
- Expression of equity and/or resilience
- Community engagement
- Diversity of populations engaged and/or represented
- Scope: how many people will the project impact?
- Responsiveness to site
