Trinity Heritage Days, May 10, 2025, was a truly Magical Day!
The Highland Art Center Meadow and grounds were transformed into a Multi-tribal Native American cultural experience. The Nor Rel Muk Wintu Nation have been seeking Federal Recognition for 20+ years with 2024 as the year that they have finally moved the needle. The Tribe was granted it's first parcel of land, the Trinity River Natives' Cultural Center, located at 304 Corral Bottom Rd in Big Bar, California. The House Bill has been recognized and is championed by Representative Jared Huffman and many others in hopes of being agendized for a vote. Tribal members from far and wide joined in this Heritage Days, bringing their music, dance, stories, and brilliant crafts.
The day opened with Clint McKay's dance troupe from Marin County showcasing the ancient language and dance with dancers from 4 years old to 40 along with many elders.
