"Art for Arts' Sake"
2021
Hayfork’s Christmas Shopping Extravaganza
By the time that we opened the door at 5:30, it had started to snow heavily. A small group of committed Hayfork artists in conjunction with the Trinity County Arts Council organized and promoted, in less than 2 months, the 3rd Hayfork “Art For Art's Sake” event on December 11th.
This art show/ sale featured many talented Hayfork artists. The art ranged from exquisite woodwork to finely detailed Jewelry, from beautiful ceramics to creative crafts, from marvelous marbles to detailed drawings, the quality of the work was overwhelming.
The event was catered by The Golden Fork, local restaurateurs Lisa Howell and Mel McCormack. They provided a beautiful variety of tasty treats both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. Liquid refreshments were provided by Carini Winery and Curvy Roads Kegged Wines. The wide variety of wines available was appreciated by the patrons attending.
Sarah Aldinger and several Hayfork High students (Trinity Foster, Alan Buell, Angelina Yang, and Sunshine Montgomery) prepared and installed many varied and creative decorations, transforming the Dining Hall.
The art auction at 7:30, was emceed by Hippie Chuck and his daughter Sunday Stanley. The raucous affair was highlighted with the sale of beautiful woodwork, paintings, rugs, jewelry, crafts, and ceramics. More than $1000 was earned to fund the project for next year.
All in all, both artists and attendees felt that the event should be deemed a great success. Thanks to all of the participants and attendees. Special thanks to the Hayfork Chamber of Commerce for funding support, the Trinity County Arts Council, volunteers from the Mountain Actors Workshop, Carrie Bayley and the entire Trinity Co. fairgrounds staff for all of their support.
