Remember the exhilaration of splashing color on paper, squishing wet mud or clay through your fingers, building and painting a model, feeling music pulse through your body; the feeling of creating?
Imagine being shut-in your home . No color. No texture. No creative outlet. Nothing to look forward to.
And then; the telephone rings...
Artists from the project ARTREACH would like to brighten up your day by bringing crafts projects to your home. No cost to you. The only requirement is that you want us to come.
ARTREACH : What is it?
The Trinity County Arts Council has an assembly of artists who would like to share their crafts. Some crafts projects can be completed in an hour, others can take up to 3 visits to complete. Participants get to choose what crafts they would like to explore and arrange a date for the crafts person to bring the experience to them. We have watercolor painters, wood carvers, basket weavers, ceramic artists that will teach hand building with clay and return with the fired piece for glazing. We have textile artists with fabric for simple quilting and fabulous yarn for crocheting, knitting or macramé. You can make your own beads from Sculpey or create with a wild assortment of glass or wood beads and adornments. The assortment of projects is as varied as are the talented artists of Trinity County.
One phone call and we’ll be at your door with brushes and smiles.
How Does it Work?
- The Arts Council will compile a booklet of Artists, Projects with a photo of the completed craft
project, Material List and the minimum suggested requirements for each project.
- All materials are furnished by the Trinity County Arts Council . Artists can purchase the
materials and submit an invoice for reimbursement (with prior approval) or request that the
TCAC purchase materials.
- House- bound Individuals and small groups wishing to experience a craft will contact the Trinity
County Arts Council and arrange to book a project. The Arts Council will contact the crafts
person who will set up a play date.
All materials required for the project, set-up and clean-up will be provided by the craftsperson.
Note: Individuals who are immobile must have a caregiver present.
If YOU are an artist wishing to share your craft, or are an individual wanting to brighten your afternoon with a crafts project, contact the Trinity County Arts Council; 623-2760.
Remember : Artreach is For Everybody!

This very ambitious production has garnered support from the Humboldt Area Foundation, Trinity Trust, our local Historical Society, the Trinity County Office of Education, Human Response Network, Trinity County Board of Supervisors. We have received donations from the HAF Native Cultures Fund, Scott Valley Bank and CVS Pharmacy. This program can be a step towards building cultural appreciation for the Native population and open the door for intercultural acceptance. We intend this to be a blue print for the future.
