Directly Promoting Toursim
Weaverville Main Street 4 Point Approach Workshop
A large percentage of the county's income is derived through tourism. The Arts Council is pinnacle in insuring a thriving tourism industry that feeds individual businesses and generates the T.O.T funds that support our business and programs.
Weaverville has been awarded a grant from the Small Business Development Center at Shasta College to develop a 4 Point Business Plan designed to create a marketing plan for Weaverville. The plan has established strengths, weaknesses and opportunities that can be leveraged to build a plan for economic restructuring. (A synopsis of the plan is available). The Arts Council is a primary player on two committees; the Beautification Committee and the Publicity Committee.
The Beautification Committee is charged with creating a dynamic visual impression of Weaverville by painting store fronts, planting flowers, painting benches and garbage cans, creating art displays in store windows targeting events along Main Street, and the Publicity Committee. We will draw the community into the process, advertising for designs from schools, churches, youth groups, art groups, prominent artists, and service organizations inviting families, kids, everybody to "Adopt a Can". Each step will be advertized to generate excitement and ownership of the Revitalization Plan. We see the publicity as a draw to visit Weaverville.
The Arts Council is one of 3 supports to the Publicity Committee that includes Wayne Agner, Editor of the local newspaper, Trinity Journal, and retired CAO of Trinity County and our IT support, Dero Forslund who has already developed several of the websites. We are partnering with New Day Broadband to provide a central high-speed internet service for Weaverville, eventually branching out to the rest of the county. The Trinity County Chamber of Commerce will be the hub for interconnectivity between businesses, service organizations, arts events, resorts, outdoor recreation, lodging, all businesses that feed the tourism industry.
The TCAC responsibility will be to take photos and videos of the 20 target high profile businesses and events that will develop our presence beyond Trinity County. Our job is to sell the program business by business and help produce a webpage for each of the 20 businesses. After we prove the viability of the plan, we will begin charging for the service and website update creating a sustainable business.

reorganized, moved our office to the Main Street Gallery, and incorporated in 2005. April 2011, as part of our effort to establish the purpose and identity of the Arts Council, we chose to move our office to a business environment. We now share the building with the Trinity County Chamber of Commerce at 509 Main Street, Weaverville, providing us an opportunity to be directly involved with the businesses and events of the county.
The members of the TCAC Board are volunteers and are governed by the TCAC Bylaws. There are two paid part time staff members, the Executive Director and a Bookkeeper. The monthly Board meetings are public and are advertised in the Trinity County newspaper and on our website (trinitycountyarts.org), encouraging all to participate.
